Abstract

A water-resistant, film-forming skin-protective composition comprises a mixture of nitrocellulose, an organopolysiloxane and a nitrocellulose-compatible oil, the composition for application to the skin being dispersed in an aqueous oil-in-water emulsion type cream or ointment base. The polysiloxanes employed have the formula <FORM:0754844/IV(a)/1> wherein R and R1 are the same or different hydrocarbon radicals such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, amyl, phenyl or benzyl. Specified oils are castor, sesame, cotton seed and corn oil. In examples the cream base aqueous emulsion contains (I) stearic acid, spermaceti and 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol; (II) diglycol stearate, cetyl alcohol, stearin, ethanol, propylene glycol and benzoic acid; (III) cholesterin, cottonseed oil and petrolatum.ALSO:A skin-protective composition comprises a mixture of nitrocellulose, an organopolysiloxane and a nitrocellulose-compatible oil dispersed in an aqueous oil-in-water emulsion-type cream or ointment base. The polysiloxanes employed have the formula: <FORM:0754844/VI/1> wherein R and R1 are the same or different hydrocarbon radicals such as methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, amyl, phenyl or benzyl. Specified oils are castor, sesame, cottonseed and corn oil. In examples the aqueous emulsion cream-base contains (I) stearic acid, spermaceti and 2-amino-2-methyl-1 : 3-propane diol; (II) diglycol stearate, cetyl alcohol, stearin, ethanol, propylene glycol and benzoic acid; (III) cholesterin, cottonseed oil and petrolatum.
