754,199. Stirrups. POPOFF, D. Dec. 10, 1954 [Dec. 24, 1953], No. 35814/54. Class 62. In a resilient tread which detachably engages an opening in a stirrup iron and comprises a tread plate 12, a spacer 13 of smaller area and a lower part 14, the latter components are provided with a deep longitudinal groove 27 which facilitates fitting of the tread by permitting the divided lower part to be pressed inwards and passed through the opening. The tread is formed from rubber as an integral moulding and may have one or more parts softer than the remainder. By having a normally curved tread-plate 12 as shown in Fig. 2, the tread grips the stirrup firmly when fitted. The groove 27 has a depth greater than one half the tread thickness and the ends of the lower part may be tapered, Fig. 3 (not shown). Specification 709,097 is referred to.
