Abstract
753,761. Gas turbine plant. AKT.-GES., FUR TECHNISCHE STUDIEN. April 26, 1954 [April 30, 1953], No. 12013/54. Class 110(3) [Also in Group XIII] A gas turbine plant in which the working medium is indirectly heated in a heater by an intermittently produced heat carrier has supplementary heat storing means in constant heat exchange with the working medium provided between the intake of the working medium into the heater and the turbine inlet. In the plant shown the compressed and heated working medium after expansion in a turbine 1- flows through a heat exchanger 2 and a cooler 3 to a compressor 4. After compression, the working medium passes through the heat exchanger 2 to the heater 7 where it is heated in tubular coils 8. A heat accumulator 11 filled with heat storing material 12 having ducts 13 through which the working medium flows is arranged between the heater 7 and turbine 1. During the periods when the heat carrier flows through the heater 7,. the working medium is heated. Part of this heat is transferred to the material 12 and then returned to the working medium during the periods when the flow of the heat carrier is stopped. The heat storing material 12 may be formed by material in loose layers e.g. a stone filling, or by'heat resisting metal parts. The pressure level in the circuit may be varied by means of a compressor 15 and a blow-off valve 21. The compressor and valve may be controlled automatically as a function of the temperature of the working medium or by means responsive to the output so that the output remains constant. These two methods may be combined, the temperature control being used for coarse adjustment and the output control for fine regulation. In a modification, the heat storage material is arranged in the heater 7 between the paths of flow of the heat carrier and working medium. The plant may work on an open circuit.
