Abstract
752,511. Winding toroidal coils. MICAFIL, Ltd. June 11, 1954 [June 11, 1953], No. 17242/54. Addition to 668,042. Class 83 (4). A machine for winding small closed ring cores 3 according to the parent Specification, wherein the wire storage device consists of a circular tube 1 guided by rollers 4 whose axes are radial to the axis of rotation of said device 2, said rollers being located on two parallel flange plates 16, 17 between which there is a narrow continuous gap through which the wire 14 passes on leaving the storage device 1, is characterized in that on the inner sides of the flange plates 16, 17 means are provided which give the wire a wave-like bend to prevent the wire loop from being thrown out radially of the device 1 but allow it to move easily transversely to the radial direction. The means comprise a U-sectioned bar 22 adjustably secured by a screw 25 to the flange plate 16 and extending towards the core 3, the U arms forming two ribs co-operating with longitudinal grooves 24 in the flange plate 17. The bar 22 and grooves 24 are highly polished and their ends tapered. The bar 22 may have one or more than two ribs.
