Abstract

751,819. Stud-and-socket fastenings. WARD, E. S. W. July 12, 1954 [June 8, 1954], No. 16784/54. Class 44. A fastening clip for securing together superimposed sheet-like elements 5, 6 consists of a length of springy material such as metal strip bent into V-form to provide a pair of legs 1, 1, the ends of which 2, 2 are bent outwards sub. stantially at right-angles to the axis of the V, the legs being kinked inwardly as shown at 3 at their respective junctions with the outwardly bent ends to form recesses thereunder, the recesses having a pair of opposed surfaces making an acute angle with one another of the order of 30 degrees or less and forming sub. stantially sharp shoulders at the junction with the legs, whereby the edges of registering holes 8, 9 in the superimposed sheet-like elements through which the clip is inserted are locked together in the recesses between said sharp shoulders and the outwardly bent ends and accidental displacement of tha clip from the hole is thereby prevented. The clip may be used for securing vertical dividing partitions to the shelves of metal filing and storage cabinets. By the use of the acute angle of 30 degrees or less and the sharp shoulders at the junction with the legs the elements are gripped together face to face much more tightly than would be the case if the shoulders were rounded and the angle larger.
