Abstract

751,704. Gauging coiled wire sections. CROSS, R. C. Dec. 14, 1954 [Oct. 13, 1954], No. 29546/54, Class 106 (2). The wire coil whose section is to be gauged is supported on a cylindrical holder 12, threaded at 13 to the profile of the interior of the coil, and held in a carrier 10 which is pivoted at 11 on the stand 1 so as to move, preferably in an arcuate path, into and out of gauging positton, the external profile of the coil being engaged in gauging position by a roller 4 having a periphery shaped to engage the coil, the roller 4 being carried in a support 2 yieldably mounted on a pivot axis member 5 by a spring 3 so as to be urged into contact with the coil, the feeler 8 of a dial gauge 9 abutting the upper surface of the support 2.
