Abstract

750,967. Winch control. WESTINGHOUSE BREMSEN-GES. April 29, 1954 [June 12, 1953], No. 12432/54. Class 78 (5). A lifting appliance having a cable drum 5 driven from a driving motor 3 via an hydraulic clutch 4, has a drum brake 8 which is applied by mechanical force 7 and which is released, when the driving motor is switched on, by means of pressure fluid produced by an air compressor 9 operatively coupled to the said driving motor. As shown, the air circuit also comprises cooling pipe 12, filter 13, spill valve 17, throttle screw 15; and electromagnetic valve 16 controlled by press-button switch 23. Alternatively, the air circuit may include a storage tank so that the air therein may be used to release the brake when the motor is stationary.
