The roof 3 is vertically movable and is supported on rods 4 sliding telescopically in tubes 5 secured to the fixed lower half 1 of the vehicle. The rods 4 are extended by means of endless chains 8 having driving pins 7 secured to the chains and the rods, said chains being actuated by sprockets geared to a single operating shaft 14. Between the roof 3 and the lower part 1 and secured thereto is a flexible covering 24 which is preferably double walled.
