Abstract
750,098. Thermionic valves. GERA CORPORATION. July 31, 1953 [May 11, 1953], No. 21313/53. Class 39 (1). The grid 15 of a thyratron is supported against buckling by struts 38 extending from its solid central part to conical baffle 36, both grid and baffle being rigidly held at their peripheries, as by screening cylinder 13. Cathode 17 has emitting surface 18 heated by heaters 20 and surrounded by heat shields 21, 22 with nickel foil sheets 23 between them. Electrons pass into space bounded by cylindrical mesh 35 closed by apertured plate 26, a baffle 30 shielding the aperture 27 from direct heat of the cathode. Thence they pass through central hole 37 of baffle 36 and a number of peripheral radial slots 16 in the grid 15 to anode 11, which is closely surrounded at the back by end 14 of screen 13. Insulating spacers 40 support plate 26 from surrounding screen 13. The tube operates with a positive firing voltage on the grid. Specifications 705,827 and 707,280 are referred to.
