Abstract

749,181. Anti-dazzle screens for vehicles. LIBBEY-OWENS-FORD GLASS CO. April 5, 1952, No. 8773/52. Class 103 (2). A windshield has a bent curvature along its longitudinal axis and is mounted on an automobile at an angle to the vertical, the windshield being provided with a shaded area which at the bottom has a substantially horizontal cut-off line. The windshield may comprise two sheets of glass with an interposed layer of plastic material having a shaded area which varies in intensity from the top of the interlayer towards the bottom thereof. Fig. 8 shows a plastic sheet 18 coloured to reduce glare, the sheet being trimmed as shown by the line 14 and being provided with a curved cut-off line 16. The sheet is assembled with two curved pieces of glass and heated under pressure, and the laminated glass structure is moulded on the vehicle, the line 16 then becoming a substantially straight horizontal line. Specification 729,733 is referred to.
