748,526. Splints. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP ESTA. Nov. 30,1953 [April 17, 1953], No. 33184/53. Class 81(2). [Also in Group VIII] A blank for making a splint comprises the assembly with a sheet of solid thermoplastic material of a sheet of foam plastic material the said foam material being capable of retaining its foam character at the temperature necessary for the plastic deformation of the solid material and being likewise deformable, the heat conductivity and heat storage capacity of said foam being so slight that it may be brought into contact at this temperature with human skin without injuring it. The blank shown consists of a layer 1 of solid thermoplastic material provided with perforations 2 and a layer 3 of foam plastic. The layer 1 of solid material may be formed as a plurality of layers at least one of which is perforated. Examples of 1 are methyl methacrylate, polyethylene. Example given of 3 is polyurethane foam.
