Abstract

747,689. Bird-nibbles. MARTIN, J. Dec. 23, 1954 [Sept. 30, 1953], No. 26808/53. Class 5 (2). A bird-nibble comprises a block of plaster 10, incorporating grit and other ingredients such as iodine, the block being moulded with longitudinal grooves 12 whereby it may be mounted between the vertical wires of a bird-cage or slipped into a complementarily - shaped holder 13. The block is roughly semicircular in transverse cross-section and the holder comprises a flat metal strip with turned-over edges 14 to grip the grooves and pressed-out lugs 15 at the rear to engage the cage-bars. The block may taper lengthwise and the holder may be similarly shaped, but if the block is uniform in section the holder has a flange at the bottom to retain the block. The block and holder may be mounted in a henhouse.
