[Also in Divisions C1 and C3] An open-ended mould for continuous casting is made of graphite which incorporates copper, aluminium or an alloy of these in the form of powder, wire, filament, strip or fibre. The mould may be an assembly of plates of the composite material. As powder, the metal may be present as half the volume of the material but in the elongate forms it is one-tenth the volume of graphite present.
