747,465. Fluid pressure railway brakes. WESTINGHOUSE AIR BRAKE CO. Aug. 9, 1954 [Nov. 17, 1953], No. 23061/54. Class 103 (1). In a fluid pressure brake distributer valve for railways, in order to prevent depletion of the control reservoir pressure into the auxiliary reservoir when the charging valve device 9 moves to charging position after final release of a brake application, fluid under pressure from the brake pipe passage 28 will flow to the auxiliary reservoir 3 by way of choke 27, space 26, choke 30, passage 23 and chamber 24, passage 31, chamber 32, encircling the service valve device 7, and the usual communications (not shown). If, during this time, pressure of fluid in the brake pipe passage 28 and hence in passages 21 and 22, which is connected to space 26 through a choke 25, is less than that in the control reservoir 6, the control reservoir will equalize into the brake pipe at a rate controlled by chokes 25 and 27 in series but no dissipation of control reservoir pressure into the auxiliary reservoir will occur, the choke 25 being smaller than the choke 30. Overcharges in the auxiliary reservoirs 3 and 6 may be dissipated to the brake pipe independently past check valves 11 and 10 respectively and through chokes 48 and 42.
