746,656. Hydraulic vehicle brakes. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES. June 30, 1954 [July 3, 1953], No. 19204/54. Addition to 687,793. Class 103 (1). The release device for spring accumulator brakes, as described in the parent Specification, has a modified hydraulic piston pump which will provide a controlled release of hydraulic fluid so as to provide a sensitive actuation of the brakes by the main application spring. This characteristic is provided by slidably mounting within the pump piston 7a, a ram 102 with a projecting spindle carrying a double cone 105. If the lever 5a is depressed sufficiently to deflect a leaf-spring 112, the cone 105 will spread apart the adjacent ends of pins 106 and 107 and be locked between them, this action causing a permanent opening of valve 108 sufficient to allow liquid to be released for light braking. This pressure can be modified by moving the plunger 7a up and down within the limits of the pin and slot 103, 104, so that ram 102 is not displaced.
