Abstract

Silver coatings or ornamentations are formed on articles by bringing the latter, or the parts thereof to be coated, to a temperature of at least 150 DEG C. and applying silver lactate or butyrate, in solid form, thereto; the silver salt melting in situ and decomposing to silver. The article may then be heated to 300 DEG C. to complete decomposition. The silver salt may be used as a moulded stick and may be applied to glass, ceramics or plastics. The formation of condensers and resistors and the decoration of articles are referred to.
