Abstract

Supplementary animal feeding-stuff having an APF active substance complex is prepared by causing enzymes secreted from Vitamin B12-containing micro-organisms to break down an extraneous substrate of animal feeding-stuffs, e.g. yeast, mycelium, bran, or extraction residues of soya and/or ground nut and/or poppy seed, and, after complete enzymic breakdown, heating and drying the mixture. The substrate may also contain other viable micro-organisms, and enzymes secreted therefrom can break down the Vitamin B12 organisms and thus increase the yield of Vitamin B12.
