Abstract
745,363. Casting processes. BUTLER, R. C. Oct. 28, 1953 [Oct. 30, 1952], No. 27251/52. Classes 83 (1) and 83 (2). A layer or layers of alloy in a plastic or semimolten condition is or are cast by impasting against the surfaces of a refractory mould. The alloy may be 40 per cent tin, 45 per cent lead and 15 per cent copper and is impasted against the mould surface by a spatula of e.g. platinum or chromium-steel alloy. The method is stated to be applicable to hollow meta sculpture, plaques, casings, boxes, &c. and large structures may be made by joining together, as by welding, members made by the method of the invention. Mould materials.-The mould may be of plaster of Paris 49 per cent, grog 50 per cent, sodium silicate 1 per cent, and water.
