Blade or sinuous wire springs 5 have their inturned ends 12 detachably connected to transverse members 6 of a strip metal frame with one or more longitudinal members 7 which can be located as an entity in a seat or like frame 2. The ends 12 are preferably sprung into slots formed by punching tongues 13 from the strips 6.
