Abstract

745,199. Damp proof courses. SHILLABEER, E. R. April 20, 1954 [April 20, 1953], No. 11401/54. Divided out of 745,158. Class 20(4). A damp resistor for cavity walls comprises a sub-frame 6 integral with an inclined portion 2 which bears on the inner surface of the lintel 3 of the inner skin, a horizontal portion 5 being welded at 8 to the sub-frame 6. A windowframe 10 may be secured below the sub-frame 6 and an angle iron 7a forms an arch support for the brickwork 11. The lateral edges of the horizontal portion 5 of the damp resistor may be down-turned to assist in drawing off excess water. In a modification the damp resistor comprising a horizontal portion and inclined portion 2, is separate from the sub-frame 6 which has its horizontal member 5 adjacent that of the damp resistor. According to the Provisional Specification the upper end of the inclined portion may be bent downwards to lie against the inner surface of the lintel.
