Abstract

742,734. Die holders; work-holders. PATRIGNANI, L. April 27, 1953 [May 27, 1952], No. 11575/53. Classes 83 (3) and 83 (4). Apparatus for clamping dies, jigs or tools 11, 12, each formed with a recessed slot, on a machine for stamping, embossing, punching, shearing, bending or forging, comprises one or more pistons 19 each mounted in a cylinder 25 formed in the machine frame or in members 14, 15, mounted on the machine frame, the, or each, piston having a shank 13 and a head 24, the shank and head engaging in the slot for securing said die, jig or tool to the machine. Each of the pistons is operated hydraulically or pneumatically through pipe-lines 4, 5 for clamping the die &c. in position. Alternatively, the pistons may be operated mechanically. The dies may be adjusted by jibs 17, 18 guided by a slide 16 without altering the stroke of the machine. Mobile tenders on rails or guides carry the dies to the machine and each tender has a hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanical telescopic gripping device for seizing a die from a storage shelf and delivering it to the working plane of the machine where it is clamped in position.
