Abstract

742,685. Pressed glassware. WOOD BROS. GLASS CO., Ltd., WOOD, A. H., and HILL, S. June 24, 1954 [July 30, 1953], No. 21105/53. Class 56 Relates to the production of pressed glassware having portions of different colours, particularly signal-lamp glasses, and especially for car rear-lights having stop or other red lights and a white reversing or number-plate illuminating light. In the form shown in Fig. 1 charges of red and white molten glass 17, 18 are placed in the mould 12 and acted on by the plunger 13 to produce the lamp cover 10 shown in Fig. 2 having a red portion 10a and a clear portion 10b. In the form shown in Fig. 4 the clear portion 22 is firsft pressed and a coloured charge 25 is then inserted and pressed so that it lines a portion of the part 22 as in Fig. 5. The number-plate is illuminated by the light through the unlined part whilst the tail light is provided by the lined part.
