Abstract
742,014. Moulding building elements: glass and cement compositions. GLASWATTE GES. Dec. 22, 1953, No. 35640/53. Classes 70 and 87 (2). Structural elements of gypsum, or cement binders reinforced by webs of loosely intermatted glass or other mineral fibres are obtained by soaking the web with an aqueous suspension of the binder, the amount of water of which exceeds that normally used for preparing a pasty binder mass so as to give the suspension such a fluidity that each fibre is coated with suspension, and after soaking, pressing so that the filtering capacity of the web is increased so that in the final stage of the pressing all binder particles are retained by the web and only pure water is still squeezed out. The webs are preferably made from long fibred webs but short-fibred webs may be used if one or both surfaces are covered with a layer of long fibres. The fibrous web may be passed in the form of a continuous band 7 through a bath of binder suspension and then passed to a transportable platform 11 of a screw type press having a frame 18 and a stamp or slide 19 and a hand wheel 20. Press boards 12 are placed on the soaked webs and the whole pile squeezed in the press. In modifications (not shown) the treated webs are squeezed between endless belts or on corrugations.
