Abstract

740,645. Counting-apparatus. WAYNE TANK & PUMP CO., Ltd. June 21, 1954 [June 29, 1953], No. 17942/53. Class 106 (1). [Also in Group XVIII] The counting and indicating mechanism of a liquid dispensing apparatus is zeroized by forward rotation of the zeroizing shaft, the indicating drums being covered by shutters during such rotation and the said shutters being released to return to their normal positions when the drums reach zero. The zeroizing shaft is rotated by the pump driving motor through a mechanical connection including a unidirectional clutch. The pump motor 1, Fig. 2 (not shown) drives a flanged disc 11, Fig. 5, through a belt, a pulley 6 and a worm and worm wheel. The flanged disc 11 is notched at 15 to co-operate with a pawl 18 pivoted on a crank 17 freely mounted on the spindle 12 of the disc 11. A trip lever 24 is also pivoted to the crank 17. The pawl 18 and the trip lever 24 are urged clockwise, Fig. 5, by springs 21, 27 respectively. Upon movement of a lever 4 to the position shown in Fig. 5 a switch in the pump motor circuit is closed and the motor drives the disc 11. The spring 21 pulls the pawl 18 into the first notch 15 so that the crank 17 is rotated for a complete revolution until a lug 29 of the trip lever 24 meets the lever 4 whereupon the step 26 of the lever 24 meets the end 20 of the pawl 18 and withdraws it from the notch 15. The rotation of the crank 17 is transmitted via link 31, Fig. 1, crank 32 to effect rocking of a quadrant 34 which is connected through a gear 35, Fig. 3, a unidirectional clutch 36, 37, a frictional clutch 39 and a shaft 40 to the zeroizing shaft of the counter. During the forward movement of the quadrant 34 the zeroizing shaft is rotated forwardly through 405 degrees to effect zeroizing of the drums and on the reverse movement of the quadrant when no movement is imparted to the shaft 40 the zeroizing shaft is rotated back through 45 degrees by springs. When at the end of the dispensing operation the lever 4 is moved to switch off the motor the lug 29 of the trip lever 24 is freed but a second lug 25 thereon is obstructed by the lever 4 to prevent effective movement of the crank 17.
