Abstract

739,360. Valve circuits for radio reception. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 29, 1954 [March 6, 1953], No. 2747/54. Class 40 (6). In a television receiver a negative grid bias voltage is derived from the line timebase. The timebase comprises a sawtooth generator VA1, VA1<SP>1</SP> of the cathode-coupled type driving a line output valve VA2. Grid current in the valve VA2 produces a negative potential across the grid leak R8 which is smoothed by means of resistor R10 and condenser C7 and which is either used directly as a fixed bias for one or more other stages of the receiver or alternatively is applied thereto via an adjustable potentiometer P.
