Abstract

5 - M - Sulphobenzoxypyrazole derivatives are prepared by condensing m-chlorosulphonylbenzoic acid with pyridine and with a 1-aryl-3-acylamino-pyrazolone colour coupler but unsubstituted in the 4-position. 1-(2 : 4 : 6-Trichlorophenyl) - 3 - {m - [a - (2 : 4 - di - tert. - amylphenoxy) - acetamido] - benzamido} - 5 - m-sulphobenzoxypyrazole pyridinium salt is prepared by reacting together pyridine, m-chlorosulphonylbenzoic acid, and 1-(2 : 4 : 6-trichlorophenyl) - 3 - {m - [a - (2 : 4 - di - tert. - amylphenoxy) - acetamido] - benzamido} - 5-pyrazolone. 1 - Phenyl - 3 - {m - [a - (2 : 4 - di-tert. - amylphenoxy) - acetamido] - benzamido}-5 - m - sulphobenzoxypyrazole pyridinium salt, 1 - [p - tert. - butylphenoxy) - phenyl] - 3 - [a - (p-tert. - butylphenoxy) - propionamido] - 5 - m-sulphobenzoxypyrazole pyridinium salt, 1-phenyl - 3 - {m - [g - (2 : 4 - di - tert. - amylphenoxy) - butyramido]benzamido} - 5 - m - sulphobenzoxypyrazole pyridinium salt, 1 - (2 : 4 : 6-trichlorophenyl) - 3 - {a - [p - (a - 2 : 4 - di - tert.-amylphenoxy - acetamido) - phenyl] - acetamido}-5 - m - sulphobenzoxypyrazole pyridinium salt and 1 - [p - (p - tert. - butylphenoxy) - phenyl]-3 - [g - 2 : 4 - di - tert. - amylphenoxy) - butyramido] - 5 - m - sulphobenzoxypyrazole pyridinium salt are similarly prepared. 1 - Phenyl - 3 - {3 - [g - (2 : 4 - di - tert. - amylphenoxy) - butyramido] - benzamido} - 5-pyrazolone is prepared by reacting 1-phenyl-3-(3 - aminobenzamido) - 5 - pyraozlone with g -(2 : 4 - di - tert. - amylphenoxybutyryl) - chloride in acetic acid containing anhydrous sodium acetate. 1 - [p - (p - tert. - butylphenoxy) - phenyl]-3 - [g - (2 : 4 - di - tert. - amylphenoxy) - butyramido] - 5 - pyrazolone is similarly prepared. g - (2 : 4 - Di - tert. - amylphenoxy) - butyryl chloride is prepared by heating g - (2 : 4 - di-tert. - amylphenoxy) - butyric acid with thionyl chloride. g - (2 : 4 - Di - tert. - amylphenoxy) - butyric acid is prepared by refluxing together 2 : 4-di-tert.-amylphenol, butyrolactone, and sodium methoxide.
