Abstract

1 - Hydroxy - 4 - sulpho - N - octadecyl - 2-napthamide is produced by heating phenyl 1-hydroxy-2-naphthoate and octadecylamine to give 1-hydroxy-2-octadecylnaphthamide and then sulphonating this with concentrated sulphuric acid. 1 - (2,4 - Dichloro - 6 - methoxyphenyl) - 3-[a - (3 - pentadecyl - phenoxy) - butyramido]-5-(3-sulpho-benzoyloxy) pyrazole, pyridinium salt is prepared by adding 1-(2,4-dichloro-6-methoxyphenyl) - 3 - [a - (3 - pentadecyl-phenoxy) butyramido]-5-pyrazolone (see Specification 904,852) to a solution of 3-chlorosulphonyl benzoic acid in pyridine. a - Benzoyl - a - sulpho - 3 - [3 - (4 - tert.-amylpenoxy) benzamide) acetanilide is made by condensing ethyl benzoylacetate with 3-nitro-aniline to give a -benzoyl-3-nitroacetanilide, reducing this to the 3-amino derivative, condensing the latter with 3-(4-tert.-amyl-phenoxy) benzoyl chloride and treating the product with chlorosulphonic acid.
