738,843. Agricultural implements. ROTARY HOES, Ltd. Jan. 6, 1954 [Jan. 8, 1953], No. 576/53. Class 6 (1). An agricultural implement such as a rotary cultivator is raised and lowered hydraulically by means of the vertical component of an arcuate displacement of ground-wheels 29 and may be adjusted for height independently of the hydraulic arrangement by manually actuable screw devices 46. As shown, the tools 27 are driven from a tractor power-shaft by means of a shaft mounted inside a draught tube 11 and connected to a gear-box 22 which drives a transverse shaft mounted inside a cross-tube 24 and connected to the tools by chain and sprocket gearing. The wheels 29 which may be replaced by skids or endless tracks are each mounted on a pivoted arm 32 provided with a member 70 having a groove which is engaged by an arcuate flange 72 of a guide 73. A transverse shaft 35 is provided with an arm 38 pivotally connected to a hydraulic piston and cylinder 41 and an arm 44 at each end connected to the screw device 46 which is connected to the arm 32. In a modification a screw-operated device acts through a linkage to move the landwheel supports and the hydraulic arrangement has a lost-motion connection with the linkage whereby after taking up any lost motion consequent on a manual adjustment the hydraulic arrangement acts on the linkage to raise or lower the tools by pivotal movement of the land-wheel supports.
