Abstract
738,299. Pads. PERSONAL PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Nov. 7, 1952 [Nov. 9, 1951], No. 28157/52. Classes 19 and 61. A device for cleaning toilet bowls and the like comprises a disposable swab of tubular shape which ships on to the head of a holder. The swab, Figs. 1, 5, is constructed from a pad comprising a filler 11 of soft absorbent material, readily disintegrable when wet, and an outer wrap sheet 12 of paper strong enough to withstand disintegration during use. The longitudinal margins of the sheet 12 are folded over so as to overlap and enclose the filler 11, the overlapping faces being secured with watersoluble adhesive, and the pad so formed is rolled into a tube, Fig. 5, and the abutting edges 13 similarly secured with adhesive. In use, the swab is forced on to the head 21, Fig. 6, of a holder, which is provided with projecting helical corrugations. A pair of strings 25, are built into the swab to provide reinforcement and render the attachment to the handle more secure.
