Abstract

737,539. Processing tanks. DEBRIE, A. V. L. C. Oct. 9, 1953 [Oct. 11, 1952; May 11, 1953], No. 27893/53. Class 98 (2). A tank for processing photographic films is connected by upper and lower passages below the liquid level to an auxiliary tank, the crosssection of the passages being of a size comparable with that of the auxiliary tank, and the liquid is circulated through the tanks by means of a screw or propeller in the auxiliary tank, driven by a motor. The tanks may be fitted with deflectors and any rollers in the treating- tank round which the film is passed may be partially enclosed by hull-like members to assist in streamlining the liquid flow. The liquid may be circulated in either direction. The apparatus may comprise a single tank fitted with a suitable partition to define a treating- tank for the film and an auxiliary tank connected by upper and lower passages. As shown, a processing-tank 1 is connected to an auxiliary tank 2 by passages 3 and 4. The liquid is circulated in the direction of the arrows by a blade 12, driven by the motor 8. The tanks are provided with deflectors 21, 22 and 23, and a hull-like member 26 surrounds the lower rollers over which the films 25 pass to give a streamlined flow to the liquid. The hulllike member may have a longitudinal aperture in its base to direct the liquid onto the film.
