Abstract
737,303. Moulding-machines. AKTIEBOLAGET WESTIN & BACKLUND. Sept. 1, 1953 [Sept. 11, 1952], No. 24156/53. Class 83 (1). A moulding-machine comprising means for transmitting pattern plates successively through a number of successive treatment stations, including a flask-filling station and a patterndrawing station, and back to the vicinity of the initial position, is characterized by means for inverting the pattern plate and mould assembly before drawing, and a second means positioned to receive the pattern plate separated at the drawing station and effect a second inversion of said plate before its association in a succeeding mould assembly for positioning at the flaskfilling station. A pattern plate 6 carrying a pattern 15 is movable on guides 8 by a piston 7, from a table 4b invertable by a shaft 3, to a station 9 where a flask 12 is manually or automatically mounted on said plate, and sand is charged into the flask from a hopper 9a. The assembly is then jolted by a device comprising a jolt piston 29c and also a piston 38 having a head 39 which engages with a recess in the pattern plate to locate it. At the next station 10 a squeeze board 30 is placed on the top of the flask, ingot plugs inserted if desired and the assembly then moved to a table 5b of a press 11a mounted on, and invertable by means of, the shaft 3. The sand is rammed, the press inverted, the squeezing plate lowered to draw the mould from the pattern, and the pattern moved back to the upper table 4a of the inverting device 4 by a piston 13, through an air-blast cleaning station 14, and a station 16 where it is sprayed with a parting powder or liquid from nozzles 32. The pattern is then returned to its initial position by inversion of the device 4. The shaft 3 is rotated by pistons 34 actuating a chain 19.
