735,953. Musical toys. MATTEL, Inc. March 4, 1954 [March 4, 1953], No. 6056/53. Class 132(3): [Also in Group XXXVIII] A musical toy vehicle comprises a musical comb 12 which is plucked by protuberances 13 formed on the surface of a flexible endless belt as it passes round one of a pair of axles between which the belt is held in tension, one at least of the axles being constituted by or geared to a wheel axle of the vehicle. As shown, protuberances 13 are on a belt 14 which passes round the vehicle axle 18 and an idler axle 16. The donkey figure 1 is eccentrically pivoted at 22 to wheels 23 and moves up and down when the toy is drawn along. Vehicle wheels 21 are provided with a rough tread or with tyres of rubber or like material. The toy may be propelled by clockwork or an electric motor. According to the Provisional Specification a handle on one of the vehicle wheels enables the musical device to be operated without pulling the toy along. Specifications 696,367 and 707,248, [both in Group XXXVIII], are referred to.
