Abstract

One or more oscillation generators disposed within a land roller is or are mechanically operated by either a variable speed A.C. or D.C. motor with a Ward Leonard system of speed control or by an electromagnetic oscillation motor fed with sub-harmonics of the power supply frequency. The roller is either towed by a tractor or a suitable cable haulage system, or a driving unit may be disposed within the roller.ALSO:In an apparatus for densifying concrete having an initially loaded concrete-engaging surface to which mechanical oscillations are imparted by one or more vibration generators, the frequency of the oscillations are continuously increased and decreased at a periodic rate so related to the forward advance of the apparatus that substantially all of the concrete is vibrated at its natural frequency.
