The horizontally slidable ash space cover of a solid fuel stove,is carried by a number of horizorital rods secured to the cover and slidably engaging means fixed to the stove body, and carries a support for an ash pan. Four rods 7 attached to a plate 6 spaced from the dished ash space cover 5 slide in tubes attached to the body of the stove. A support 8 for an ash pan 9 extends from the plate 6. Plates hinged to the upper side edges of the ash pan can be closed over the ash pan, which is provided with a handle.
