Abstract

734,971. Radio receiving circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. April 24, 1953 [July 18, 1952], No. 11357/53. Class 40 (5). A frequency-modulation receiver is muted by means of a rectifier 15 which earths the output from the detector 1 in the absence of signals. The detector 1 is of the ratio type feeding an audio output of the line 11 via de-emphasis circuit 9, 10. Rectifier 15 is connected between earth and the line 11 via a D.C. blocking condenser 18, and is rendered conductive in the absence of signals by means of a positive bias, derived over resistor 13. In the presence of a signal carrier, the detector 1 produces a negative potential across condenser 5 which is applied to the rectifier 15 via resistor 12, causing it to become non- conductive.
