In a rotary tobacco-cutting machine, stickiness in the mouthpiece or at the knife &c. caused by tobacco juice is minimized by heating the mouthpiece &c. to evaporate the juice. Electric resistance heaters 8, 9 are set in bores in the mouthpiece jaws 4, 5, and similar heaters 15 are set in the transverse bars 13 of the supports for the knives 12. The heaters may be automatically controlled to heat the machine parts between 80‹ and 105‹ C. to evaporate the liquid of the juice without hardening the residual solids.
