Abstract
731,657. Photographic cameras. KODAK, Ltd. Dec. 4, 1953 [Dec. 4, 1952], No. 33736/53. Class 98 (1). A photographic roll-film camera is provided with a pivoted indicating lever which is moved into a non-indicating position during the initial part of a film winding operation by a member rotatable by the film winding mechanism, which member temporarily engages and rotates in one direction a yieldable device pivoted on the indicating lever, the yieldable device, upon becoming disengaged from the rotatable member, rotating in the opposite direction and acting as a latch to retain the indicator in a non- indicating position until it is released therefrom by operation of the shutter actuating mechanism and returned to its indicating position by a spring. As shown, the indicator 11 is formed on an arm 18 pivoted at 19 and urged by a spring 22 into a position where the indicator 11 obscures the viewfinder 14 when the shutter has been released and before the film has been wound on (Fig. 2). A lever 38, constituting the yieldable device, is pivoted on the arm 18 at 37 and the spring 39 tends to turn the lever 38 so that its end 44 normally bears on the projection 43 fitted to arm 18. The shutter is released by a rod 30 on a bell-crank 26, pivoted at 27, which rod moves to the bottom of slot 62 on depressing the shutter release 29. In the position shown in Fig. 2, depression of the shutter release 29 is impossible since the rod 30 bears against the projection 61 on arm 18. The film is wound from the spool 15 on to a spool 16 causing gear 50 to turn gear 51 and disc 53 in the direction of the arrow. One of the pins 54 on disc 53 engages the lug 55 on lever 38 turning the arm 18 in a clockwise direction against the action of spring 22. On further turning the disc 53, the projection 56 on lever 38 becomes lodged behind the stop 57 fixed to the camera and the indicator 11 is removed from the line of the finder 14 as shown in Fig. 3. It is now possible to depress the shutter release 29 since the rod 30 can move down the slot 62, and in doing so, a projection 63 on the bell-crank 26 engages the top of the arm 38 and releases it from behind the stop 56, and the lever 18 can then move back into the position shown in Fig. 2 under the action of the spring 22 as soon as the rod 30 has been allowed to rise to the top of slot 62 by releasing the pressure on the shutter release 29.
