[Also in Group VI] A protective device for use in ambulances is formed of a shaped helmet of paper provided with means, such as strings 1 to 6, by means of which it may be secured after being wrapped round the patient to cover the body, legs and feet, and neck recess A being provided. On one or each side of the element there may be provided a moisture-proof strap F secured in position by buttons 7 or the device itself may be waterproof. The shaped element may comprise a plurality of layers of material, e.g. creped paper between which there is heat insulating wadding &c. A separate hood may be formed in halves joined at the rear and connected by fastening strings at the front.
