A rigid conductor 4 of substantial crosssection is mounted on a support insulator 3 by means of a member attached to the conductor so as to permit relative movement of the member along the conductor, the member being secured to the insulator by resilient means which permit relative movement transversely to the length of the conductor between said member and the insulator. A circular metal plate 1 bolted to the top cap 3<1> of insulator 3 is secured in parallel spaced relationship to a circular plate 5 of larger diameter by resilient devices 6. Plate 5 carries a bracket 7 formed at each side with a lug 8 having a through hole parallel to the conductor 4 which accommodates a pin 10 with a sliding fit. A clamp is secured to the conductor at each end of the bracket, each clamp comprising semi-annular members 11a, 11b which are drawn together by bolts 12, and each member 11a having lugs 14 formed with through holes to receive the ends of pins 10 which are retained in position by nuts 15. The clamps are spaced from the ends of bracket 7 to permit limited longitudinal movement of the clamped conductor relative to the plate 5. The resilient devices 6 may each comprise a cylindrical rubber block bonded between two discs, each provided with a fixing stud 18 by means of which the devices are bolted to plates 1 and 5, thus permitting limited movement of the plates towards and away from each other. The plate 5 may have a depending flange 22 to protect the devices 6.
