729,054. Locking rods. CAWDERY, W. H. Jan. 14, 1953 [Aug. 22, 1952], No. 21197/52. Class 80 (3). A device for locking a rod 3 under tension to an abutment 1, such as the rods or wires of a pre-stressed concrete structure, comprises a plate 4 with a hole 5 slightly larger than the rod 3 enclosed within a cup member 14, the open end of which contacts the abutment 1 whilst the other end has a hole 15 through which the rod passes. A bar 16 is arranged across the interior of the cup member 14 which is adapted to be engaged by one side of the plate 4 which is thereby canted to lock upon the rod. A shoulder 17 on the interior of the cup serves to cause the plate 4 initially to engage the rod.
