728,694. Look-out. reflectors for vehicles. AUSTIN CROMPTON PARKINSON ELECTRIC VEHICLES, Ltd., and NEWBOLD, R. H. Dec. 7, 1953 [Dec. 5, 1952], No. 30849/52. Class 103 (2). A motor road vehicle of the type in which the driver's cab is at the extreme forward end of the vehicle and the upper end of the substantially flat front wall of the cab is provided with the usual windscreen, a safety mirror is mounted externally of and across or partly across the top of the windscreen and comprises one or more downwardly'facing reflectors adapted to afford to the driver looking through-the upper portion of the windscreen, a directly-reflected image of the road surface which is immediately in front of the vehicle and at least across the full width of the vehicle. As shown, a mirror 14 is carried in a metal holder 17 provided with trunnions 21 engaged in bayonet slots 22 in end panels 20 of a cowl 19 secured to the front wall 12 of the vehicle. The trunnions are screw-threaded and carry such a lock-nut 23, whereby the mirror may be retained in various angular positions. The mirror may be curved longitudinally or may be of shallow inverted V-shape to increase the range of vision.
