728,389. Roasting spits. DORIN, E. M. Nov. 28, 1951 [Jan. 31, 1951], No. 27913/51. Class 28 (1). A cooking apparatus comprises an open fronted roasting chamber, one or more rotatable vertical food supporting spits 8, 9, radiant heating means 12 for the spit or spits and an independently controlled cooking plate 13 for a saucepan 16 or the like under each spit. As shown, two spits 8, 9 are revolved through gear wheels 5, 6 by a motor 10 and electric heating elements 12 partly surround the spits. The cooking plates 13 are provided to heat the saucepans 16 in which sauces and the like are prepared from juices dripping from the food being roasted. Switches 11, 14, 15 control the motor 10, heating elements 12 and hot plates 13, respectively. The heating means may be gas racks or a wood fire instead of electric elements. Two recipes are given for use with the apparatus. Specification 26497/13, [Class 28 (1)], is referred to.
