Abstract
728,083. Refrigerating; film heat-exchangers for cooling water. LIQUID CARBONIC CO., Ltd. (Liquid Carbonic Corporation). Oct. 13, 1952, No. 25561/52. Classes 29 and 64 (3). [Also in Group VI] In an apparatus for carbonating and cooling water (see Group VI), the water to be cooled flows along a conduit 15 into a distributing cup 10 having openings 11 through which the water passes to flow as a film down the outer and inner surfaces of a double walled evaporator tube 8 in a refrigerator circuit. The refrigerant flows through an injector nozzle 17, which acts as the expansion valve, along a conduit 18 into the tube 8, upwardly through the space 9 between the walls of the tube 8, through conduit 33 into an accumulator 21, from whence it passes by a conduit 22 through a heat exchanger 23 to a compressor 24 and thence through the condenser 25 into the storage tank 26. From the tank 26 the refrigerant passes by conduits 27 and 28 to the injection nozzle 17. A bypass connection 29 extends from the accumulator 21 to the injection nozzle 17. A back pressure regulator 30 is provided in the exhaust line 22.
