Abstract

727,939. Spray-producers &c. WOLFE, M. April 8, 1953, No. 9531/53. Class 69 (3). A spraying device of the kind in which a part of a stream of liquid flowing through it may be passed through a container for a soluble or miscible substance and returned to the main stream passing to a spray outlet, is characterized in that a single control member actuates valve means controlling flow through a main passage and also valve means controlling flow through a by-pass passage communicating with the container. The device, which is hand operated, is supplied at 11 with liquid which flows through a passage 15 and a valve-controlled passage 17 to a conduit supporting a spray nozzle 13. A valve 18 controlling the liquid supply to the passage 17 is operated by a lever 25 acting against a spring 21, and the valve has two operating positions. In one position the valve spindle 20 is turned by an arm 27 to bring a projecting part 28 into line with an abutment 29 on the sprayer body so that when the lever is operated the valve will open a limited amount to cause spraying. When the arm 27 is moved through 90 degrees the valve may be opened a greater amount to bring a reduced portion 36 of the valve spindle into line with a passage 34 causing the flow of a part of the liquid supply through this passage and a passage 35 into a chemical receptacle 30. This liquid is returned through a passage 37, the outflow from which is controlled by a needle valve 38 at the end of a screw 39.
