Abstract

727,324. Surgical stockings. PAK PARACHUTE CO., Ltd., and CASPAR, F. A. April 21, 1953 [April 21, 1952], No. 10006/52. Class 81 (2). A method. of manufacture of elastic stockings includes cutting a sheet of two-way stretch elastic net so that it may be joined along two edges 6 to form the leg portion 1, 2 and the upper part of the foot 4, the joined edges extending up'the back of the leg and cutting a second piece of two-way stretch elastic net so that it may be secured edge to edge to the upper part of the foot 4, the heel being formed by cutting a V-shaped recess 13 in the second piece and joining the edges thereof together. The edges of the V- shaped recess 13 are preferably convex. The sheet elastic net is cut so that the elastic threads are arranged to lie across the majority of the cut edges intended for joining to other edges. Suspender tags 15 are attached to the top of the stocking. In securing the edges together a narrow strip of material at each edge is bent back on itself, the edges are placed side by side and are secured together by zig-zag stitching. The upper and lower edges 9, 10, 14 are finished by overstitching. Specification 660,878 is referred to.
