Abstract

726,519. Valve generating circuits. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELEPHONES. Nov. 3, 1953 [Nov. 10, 1952], No. 30324/53. Classes 40 (5) and 40 (6). [Also in Group XL (b)] The nth harmonic of a frequency f is produced by generating short rectangular pulses of repetition frequency equal to f and of such duration that the nth harmonic in the pulse spectrum is zero, applying the pulses to a bandpass filter having a centre frequency nf and feeding the output of the filter to a modulator circuit of the type described in Specification 449,999, so that the frequency nf is produced. Pulses having a repetition frequency f and a duration m/nf (where m is a whole number) are fed to a band-pass filter 10 which selects from the pulse spectrum one or more pairs of harmonics, the harmonics of each pair being corresponding ones on opposite sides of the'frequency nf. The output of the filter is applied to modulators 3 and 10, the output of modulator 3 being fed through a low-pass filter 7 to modulator 10 and the output of modulator 10 through a bandpass amplifier to modulator 3. By this means the desired harmonic nf may be obtained at 17.
