Abstract
726,359. High-frequency heating. AKTIEBOLAGET BOSTADSFORSKNING. May 19, 1953 [May 23, 1952], No. 14067/53. Class 39 (3). [Also in Group XL (c)]. In apparatus for heating by high frequency a plurality of supports, carrying a work piece or pieces, are moved past antenna plates connected to a high frequency generator. In Fig. 1, supports in the form of carriages 2 run on a track 1, and each work piece 3 forms the dielectric of a condenser having electrodes 4, 5, which may also act as clamping plates. Antenna plates 6 are connected to the electrodes 4 and pass close to transmission plates 7 connected to high frequency electromagnetic wave generators 8 each of which are earthed to the track 1. Variable inductances 9 are shunted across the electrodes 4, 5 and the circuits formed may thus be separately tuned. The transmission plates 7 are spaced by a distance 10 at least equal to the length of each antenna plate and have a length corresponding to a whole multiple of the pitch between the antenna plates 6 thus providing an approximately constant load on each generator. Fig. 2 shows a tuning inductance in which a metal strip 14 is displaceable along wire arms 12, 13, the inductance being connected across electrode plates 4<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP> mounted in a clamping plate 11. The transmission capacity may be increased by making both transmission plates and antenna plates from several metal sheets which interengage but which are insulated from each other. The above apparatus may be embodied in a press for glueing laminated wood. For heating metal, a coil inductor is provided and tuned by a variable condenser.
