Abstract
726,307. Determining melting points. MALONE BROS., Ltd. Oct. 21, 1953, No. 29113/53. Class 97 (3). A portion of the substance under investigation is heated in close association with a temperature responsive device by a stream of hot air issuing from a reservoir charged by a heating, device. In the apparatus shown hot air from the lamp 10 enters a hole 8 in a metal box 6 and is deflected by a baffle 9 to a hole 11 which may be partially closed by a slidable plate 17. A shield 13 has a portion resting on the top of the box, located by down-turned flanges 14, and an upturned portion with a notch to accommodate a thermometer bulb 5 coated with the ample which, when melted, drops into a tray 16. The front 15 of the box 6 is removable.
