In a pulverizing machine of the kind having a generally cylindrical chamber divided into two axially-spaced portions by a rotor, the outlet portion of this chamber being provided with at least one set of interacting, axially-overlapping pulverizing pegs, one row of pegs being carried by the rotor and the other row by the stationary wall of that side of the chamber, and the stationary wall having in it an outlet opening through which the pulverized material is discharged by means of a fan, the pulverizer chamber or the fan chamber is provided with relatively-light thin partcylindrical liner portions, preferably of white cast-iron, which are located in position by means of screws extending axially of the chamber and the ends of which engage inclined surfaces associated with the liner portions. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the liner portions 16 for the pulverizing chamber are each provided with a V-shaped boss 22, the inclined edge 23 of which is engaged by an axially-extending screw 13. Each liner portion, when worn on the input side, can be turned through 180 degrees so that the screw 13 engages the inclined edge 23a of the boss 22. The liner portions are held against mounting rings 12, 20, preferably of grey cast iron, supported in turn by the casing 21 of the pulverizing chamber. Each liner portion is provided with two ridges 25 engaging the inner peripheries of the mounting rings 12, 20. The walls of the pulverizing chamber are provided with wear plates 28, 29. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown,) the liner portions are substantially coextensive with the space between the stationary walls of the pulverizing chamber. In the form shown in Figs. 5 and 6, the fan chamber, which is pivoted to the pulverizing chamber, is provided with liner portions 36 having inclined surfaces engaged by screws 40, each liner portion having projections 37 and 39. The liner portions 36 are inserted in succession in grooves in the fan chamber and then slid along the grooves as far as necessary after which the screws 40 are tightened.
