Abstract

725,750. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. June 1, 1953 [June 2, 1952], No. 15240/53. Classes 8 (1) and 8 (2). A canister type suction cleaner has a pair of external cable receiving cleats 24, 25 one 24 of which is stationary and the other 25 is movable towards it so as to provide release of the coil of cable 19 without the need for unwinding, and the movable cleat 25 also serves to operate shaking means whereby a filter 16 within the cleaner casing 10 may be cleaned. The movable cleat 25 is secured by a bolt 30 to a push rod 31 and slides between ends 38, 39 of a slot 40 at the bottom of the cleaner casing and at the exhaust end thereof, and the rod 31 carries an arm 32 secured to the rear end of the filter 16 which is biased to an extended position by a spring 35 encircling a fixed guide rod 34. A suction end cap 13 is removed and the cleaner stood on end prior to operating the filter shaking mechanism. The cleats are located between two skids 21.
